Music thrives

I would like just to simply showcase one of the artists around here who i feel warrants some mentioning. Rebecca Wudarski, one of the local musicians finished an album she had been working on a few months ago.  It’s a truly impressive piece of work from the songwriting, to the instrumental proficiency, to the arrangements of the several old time songs you haven’t heard like this before.  It is staggeringly good.  Since then has been playing shows at the venues around here (Purple Fiddle and Mountain State) with several other local musicians.  She’s also been stirring up the music scene out and about at Mt. State Brewing Company’s open jam night on thursday.  Mountain Made just juried in her cd, my gallery (the white room) has been selling them for a few months along with her block print cards.  The CD itself is a combination of these two with each sleeve wearing a hand pressed print which she does on her own.

It helps me having people around who are actively pursuing their art.  It’s inspiring.  And it always teaches me the same lesson.  YOU have to do it.  You’re the only one who is going to make your art.

This is a link to where you can listen to a bit of the songs

enjoy it.

Thank you for letting us know about her music. When the snow lets up I’ll venture up the mountain and buy her CD, as well as check out your gallery and all of the other art that you offer.

Yup, the CD rocks. And the hand-printed bird on the CD seems more “real” than any graphic on a compact disc to date. “Real” here means genuine and soulful. It’s the same as the tunes that come outta yer speakers when you play this CD.

Great voice, lovely instrumentation — we look forward to taking in one of Rebecca’s live shows. Love the personalized touch with Rebecca’s visual art.
